Banks in Bhutan

Bank of Bhutan Ltd, Bhutan National Bank Limited, Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan, and Druk PNB Bank Ltd are the major banks in Bhutan:

Bank of Bhutan Ltd. (BOB) was incorporated by Royal Charter, 1968 and is incorporated under the Companies Act of Kingdom of Bhutan 2000 and the Financial Institution Act of Kingdom of Bhutan, 1992.

Bhutan National Bank Limited (BNBL) has established correspondent banking relationships with banks both within and outside Bhutan. In July 1996, Bhutan National Bank's equity was offered to the public.

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) is the Central Bank of Bhutan, which commenced its operations in 1983. It is responsible for the regulating the financial sector and formulating the monetary policies in Bhutan.

Druk PNB Bank Ltd. (DPNBL), the first FDI bank in Bhutan, is a joint venture bank of Punjab National Bank (India) and local promoters. The Bank started its operations in Bhutan on 27 January 2010. It has launched many techno savvy and customer friendly products, which include ATM Card, Internet Banking Services, Mobile banking and SMS alert facility.
