Venture Capital Firms in Sri Lanka

Blue Ocean Ventures and Lanka Ventures Limited are two of the major venture capital firms in Sri Lanka.

Blue Ocean Ventures (BOV) is a Sri Lankan based, BOI approved seed-stage venture capital fund. The firm provides necessary funding and support for local talent to launch and build innovative companies. It seeks to invest seed capital in exciting new start-up companies. The Founding Partners in BOV bring deep expertise in the realm of early stage investing, building start-ups and running large companies in the US, Australia and Asia.

Lanka Ventures Limited (LVL) was incorporated in February 1992 as a venture capital company. The original shareholders of the Company included Asian Development Bank, John Keells Holdings, Forbes & Walker Limited and the DFCC Bank. The firm obtained a listing for its shares at the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1995. In June 2006 LVL formed a fully owned subsidiary under the name LVL Energy Fund (Private) Limited (LEF) to channel its investments in the energy sector. Since its inception LVL had been investing in a large number of sectors.
