The largest banks in Slovenia include Nova Ljubljanska Banka, Nova KBM, Abanka, SKB banka, among others.

Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB) is the largest Slovenian bank. NLB along with Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs International and HSBC in the role of the main organisers participated in successful issue of the new bond of Republic of Slovenia.

Nova KBM is the parent company of the Nova KBM Group, which is ranked among the largest financial groups in Slovenia. Nova KBM is a universal bank with the longest tradition of banking in Slovenia dating back to the mid-19th century.

Abanka is one of the three largest banks in Slovenia and the largest private bank in Slovenia. It was established in 1955 as a branch of the Yugoslav Bank for Foreign Trade, later Jugobanka. Abanka Vipa d.d. is licensed by the Bank of Slovenia to provide banking services and a range of financial services such as factoring; issuing guarantees and other commitments; lending, including consumer credit, mortgage credit and financing commercial transactions; trading in financial derivatives; etc. Abanka Vipa d.d. is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and the Association of Banks of Slovenia.

SKB Banka d.d. is the second largest bank in Slovenia in terms of capital and total assets. SKB shares are traded in Ljubljana, London, Frankfurt, and Munich. SKB was voted “Best Local Bank in Slovenia” in the Euromoney publication, Central European, for the fourth consecutive year in April 1998.
