List of Stock Exchanges in India

There are many stock exchanges in India, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), both in Mumbai, can be classified as being "national level". NSE is India's leading stock exchange covering various cities and towns across the nation. It started trading in the equities segment (Capital Market segment) in 1994 and within a short span of 1 year became the largest exchange in the country in terms of volumes transacted. It has also introduced a fully automated screen based trading system called 'National Exchange for Automated Trading' (NEAT).

Jaipur Stock Exchange Limited (JSEL) is one of the largest exchanges in India in terms of membership. It was incorporated on 28 December 1983 as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act, 1956.

Madhya Pradesh Stock Exchange Ltd (MPSEL) is the third oldest stock exchange in the country and has a 100 % Subsidiary Company MPSE Securities Limited (MPSESL) which is a member of NSE, BSE and CDSL.

The Calcutta Stock Exchange Association Limited (CSE) is the second largest bourse in the country and it has implemented a fully computerized On-Line Trading System known as C-STAR (CSE ONLINE Screen-based Trading And Reporting System).
