Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX)

Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX) is the first pan-Asian multi-product commodity and currency derivatives exchange.based in Singapore. It offers a platform for trading a diversified basket of commodities including futures and options contracts on precious metals, agriculture commodities, base metals, energy, currencies and commodity indices.

In 2009 SMX was admitted as member of the Futures Industry Association, the Swiss Futures and Options Association, the Association of Futures Markets and the Futures and Options Association.

On 9 July 2010 SMX signed up Phillip Futures as its first General Clearing Member. On 26 August 201d th SMX and The Business Times announced the launch of quarterly magazine SMX Markets in 2011.

The Regulator of Singapore’s financial markets, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), has granted SMX ‘Approved Exchange’ status since 2010.

The Exchange uses advanced technology and systems created for commodities and derivatives markets. Counterparty clearing and settlement risk is effectively managed through its clearing house, the Singapore Mercantile Exchange Clearing Corporation (SMXCC).

Singapore Mercantile Exchange is a member of prestigious international derivatives industry associations, such as the Futures Industry Association (FIA), the Swiss Futures and Options Association (SFOA), the Association of Futures Markets (AFM) and the Futures and Options Association (FOA).
