The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (HKMEx) is an electronic commodities exchange established in Hong Kong, offering standardised exchange-traded products on a transparent pricing platform to traders, investment professionals and commercial end-users in the Asian time zone.

HKMEx's electronic trading system and technology infrastructure is among the most advanced of any exchange in the Asia-Pacific region. No single power failure or telecommunications disruption can affect trading on the Exchange. HKMEx's state-of-the art trading system, Pearl®, provides one of the fastest trading systems available, and provides easy access for all types of market participants including end users, investment banks, brokers and proprietary traders.

HKMEx offers different categories of membership such as: Clearing, Broking and Proprietary Trader. Clearing Member must be a member of LCH.Clearnet, HKMEx's appointed clearing house, and have access to its Extensible Clearing System (ECS), it may also be a Broking Member or a Proprietary Trader Member. Broking Member trades for own or clients' accounts and must clear through a Clearing Member of the exchange, it may also be a Clearing Member. Proprietary Trader Member trades solely for own account and must clear through a Clearing Member of the exchange, it may also be a Clearing Member.
