Budapest Stock Exchange

The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) is the main stock exchange in Hungary. Its main goal is to become the financial centre and primary trading venue of Hungarian securities, and to successfully take part in the competition for issuers.

BSE supplies real-time and accurate trading data of its listed securities and provides news services on issuers and section members.

In October 2001, the Exchange was promoted to full membership in the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) from the status of associate member. In November 2005 it obtained full membership in the Association of Futures Markets (AFM). It is also a member of the Financial Information Services Division / Information Industry Association (FISD / IIA).

BSE’s market structure consists of different sections with the following types of financial instruments traded:
- securities, which represent ownership right (cash market),
- futures and options (derivatives market),
- debt securities (cash market),
- commodities (cash and derivatives market).

The equity index group of the Exchange includes: BUX index (the official index); BUMIX index (the official BSE equity index of the mid- and smallcap companies); RAX index (the equity market reference index operated jointly by BSE and the Association of Hungarian Investment Fund And Asset Management Companies).
