Philippine Stock Exchange

The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) is one of the longest operating stock exchanges in Southeast Asia. It is a private organization that provides a fair, efficient, transparent and orderly market for the buying and selling of securities.

Companies are listed in the PSE on the First Board, Second Board or the Small and Medium Enterprises Board. All listed companies are classified into the following sectors: Financial, Property, Industrial, Holding Firms, Services, and Mining and Oil. The main index for PSE is the PSE Composite Index or PSEi.

Most of the issues listed in the PSE are common stocks. Other types of securities traded include preferred stocks, warrants, PDRs and bonds. The PSE through its central depository (PCD) uses the computerized book-entry system (BES) to transfer ownership of securities from one account to another.

PSE regulates trading activities through the Floor Trading and Arbitration Committee which consists of PSE members. The committee reviews and recommends appropriate trading and settlement rules as well as regulate trading personnel.
