Major Stock Exchanges in Canada

Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) is the largest stock exchange in Canada, the third largest in North America and the 8th largest in the world by market capitalization. It was founded in 1852 to provide senior issuers with efficient access to public equity, liquidity for existing and new investors, and the prestige and market exposure associated with being listed on a world-class market.

The Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE) is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was the third major stock exchange in Canada, after the TSX and Montreal Stock Exchange (MSE).

The Montréal Exchange (MX) is Canadian oldest exchange, a fully electronic exchange dedicated to the development of the Canadian derivative markets. In February 2004, MX took a position in the huge and growing US equity options market through its majority ownership interest in the Boston Options Exchange (BOX).
