PetroChina, with a market capitalization of $353.1 billion, is ranked first among the top 50 energy companies in the world for 2009 based on market capitalization (by PFC Energy, a leading strategic advisory firm in global energy). ExxonMobil (XOM) in the United States dropped to second place from the previous year's ranking, followed by BHP Billiton in the third position globally.
