Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE) is the principal stock exchange in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It was formally opened on 26 October 1981 with 37 listed securities, becoming the second Exchange in the CARICOM region after Jamaica.

The TTSE is owned equally by the listed companies of the Exchange and the member firms. A company listed on the TTSE can raise capital via an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

The Exchange implemented Horizon Electronic Trading System on 18 March 2005, replacing the manual open outcry system which was used since its inception in 1981. This system allows for trades in all securities to be executed continuously and allows brokers to enter orders and execute trades from their offices, eliminating the need for a trading floor.

The Trinidad and Tobago Central Depository Limited (TTCD) was established by the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange Limited to facilitate the safekeeping of security certificates and to enable the change of ownership of shares electronically between buyers and sellers without the need for the exchange of physical certificates.
