Best Banks in Iceland

Kaupthing Bank, Glitnir, and Landsbankinn have been named the best banks in Iceland by international publications:

Kaupthing Bank is one of the fastest growing financial groups in Europe. The Bank operates a retail franchise in Iceland, where it is headquartered. Kaupthing Bank was named Iceland's best bank 2006 in Global Finance magazine's annual rating of the world's best banks, published in the October issue. During autumn 2004 Kaupthing Bank had the honor of being named as the best bank in Iceland by both The Banker and Global Finance magazines. In July 2004 the bank was also named as the best equity house and best M&A house in Iceland by Euromoney magazine.

Glitnir was an international Icelandic bank. Global Finance magazine has named Glitnir the 'Best Bank in Iceland' in its 2007 'World's Best Developed Market Banks' awards. On 20 February 2009, the bank's name was changed back to the original Íslandsbanki.

Landsbankinn is a leading Icelandic financial institution, offering a comprehensive range of financial services and is the market leader in the Icelandic financial service sector with the largest branch network. In 2001, Landsbanki was honored with the "Bank of the year" and "Best Bank" in Iceland awards from the leading financial publications "The Banker" and "Global Finance", respectively. The Bank is also rated by both Moody's and Fitch. In 2001, Moody's confirmed its A3 rating of Landsbanki with a stable outlook. In May 2001 Fitch assigned the Bank an A rating with a stable outlook.
