The top largest banks of Mexico include Banorte, Bancomer, Banamex, HSBC Mexico, among others.

Banorte is one of Mexico's oldest and largest financial institutions. It is ranked 84th out of 100 in the 2007 Great Place to Work List for Mexico. The Banorte banking system includes a network of branches and ATMs across Mexico, PC Banking for business and consumers, BANORTEL, Banorte's bank-by-phone system, and Banorte Inter-Bursatil for on-line securities trading and investment research.

Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer (GFBB) is the leading private financial institution in Mexico in terms of deposits, with 584,737 million pesos as of September 2010. GFBB is a controlling affiliate of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), one of the biggest financial groups in the Euro Zone. The main subsidiary of GFBB is BBVA Bancomer (a leading banking institution and the largest in the country).

Grupo Financiero Banamex S.A. (Banamex) is the largest financial group in Mexico. In August 2002, Banamex was absorbed by Citigroup, the world's top leading bank with a presence in over 100 countries.

HSBC in Mexico offers its customers a comprehensive range of corporate and commercial banking, as well as personal and consumer financial services. It has been awarded Latin America's first-ever LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certificate for its headquarters building in Mexico. HSBC acquired GF Bital, one of Mexico's largest financial services groups, in November 2002.
