Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE)

Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) is the principal stock exchange in Slovenia, established on 26 December 1989. Upon the opening of the Exchange, 27 securities were traded, and the majority of them were state securities, with the rest being securities of Slovenian financial institutions and industrial enterprises.

In October 1997, LJSE became the full member of the World Federation of Stock Exchanges (WFE). In June 1999, it was promoted to associate member of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE).

In 2009, it became a member of the CEESEG, which include Vienna Stock Exchange, Budapest Stock Exchange and Prague Stock Exchange.

The Exchange calculates its indices to provide precise information on the performance of the domestic capital market. SBI TOP is the first LJSE blue-chip index and serves as the Slovene capital market benchmark index. It is used to measure the performance of the most liquid and highly capitalized stocks on the LJSE Prime Market. SBI 20 has been replaced by the LJSE Composite index and it becomes the LJSE total market index, measuring the performance of the entire stock market.
